I’m a business traveller and eat out in Birmingham twice a week, and have done for a long time. As you can imagine, I’ve tried my fair share of restaurants in brum city centre. I’m not joking, wooden barrel sister is my favourite eatery in Birmingham - it’s absolutely awesome. The young lady behind the counter is so friendly and positive, I never feel rushed, and she always helps me to decide what to eat - and it’s always amazing. The beef with black pepper and honey is phenomenal, as is the chicken in chilli oil. I’m not sure how they cook the chicken itself - I think it’s steamed, like hainanese style - but it’s the best I’ve ever had in my life. A real hidden gem

Super impressed with this place. Came from Greater London to visit Lucky Claw with the family, and spotted this place on our way out. We were looking to somewhere to have a quick bite. Super glad we went to the food hall. I’d didn’t disappoint. Some of, perhaps the best dumplings I’ve ever had. Phenomenal flavour and generous portions. Staff also very friendly and welcoming. Highly recommend this place.

I had dinner at Wooden barrel sister (木桶妹妹) and it was amazing! Ordered honey black pepper beef and potatoes (蜜椒薯仔牛柳粒) that comes with rice (refill available) and soup, just for £14. As someone from HK that reminds me of home, especially the soup without MSG. Food was flavourful with great portion, and the staff was very friendly. Would love to come back again next time I’m in Birmingham!
